The Global Context — Rooted in Reality
Global sophistication is shaped by access to three fundamental structures: stable families, permanent housing, and education.
Today, these foundations remain out of reach for billions.
Approximately 2.8 billion people worldwide lack access to adequate housing, including an estimated 318 million experiencing homelessness and over 1.1 billion living in informal settlements or substandard conditions. Without significant intervention, nearly 3 billion people are projected to require adequate housing by 2030.
Housing insecurity contributes directly to economic instability, health inequities, and weakened household structures — limiting opportunity across generations.
At the same time, education remains inaccessible for millions of children. Around 85 million crisis-affected school-age children are currently out of school, while many enrolled students lack safe facilities and quality instruction, deepening learning loss and long-term economic disadvantage.
Yet housing and education alone are not sufficient.
Across communities worldwide, weakened family structures further compound these challenges. When households lack stability, children struggle to thrive. When families lack guidance and long-term commitment, homes become fragile. And when homes are unstable, education suffers.
These conditions restrict social mobility and prevent communities from reaching higher standards of living.
This is not a shortage of potential.
It is a shortage of structure.
